Arthur Goring was born at Cleethorpes on 13 December 1910. He lived at 13 Elm Road, Cleethorpes.
An able seaman, he was in SS Prince Rupert City in August 1939 and signed on in Deptford at Workington on 27 November 1939.
Arthur Goring was killed as a result of enemy action, by reason of a torpedo attack carried out on SS Deptford from U-38. He was 28 according to the Commonwealth War Graves Commission; by the date of birth on his seaman’s card, he was killed on his 29th birthday.
In 1940, his estate was valued at £162 11s. 6d., about £12,790 today.
